colon cancer? I believe they only test after 45 years of age, but I was wondering if anyone knows of someone young with colon cancer.
Thanks

Hi Savannah

I found a great article on iVillage that answers your question.

At What Age Should I Start Worrying About Colon Cancer?

In fact, in one hereditary condition, known as familial adenomatous polyposis, patients develop hundreds of colon polyps at a very young age and colon cancer often appears before age 20

I hope this answers your question Savannah.

Hi Philly,

Thank you, thank you so much. My 40 year old husband has a huge family history of cancer, but not colon cancer. He's gonna get checked anyway.

my husband is 37 and was recently diagnosed with rectal-sigmoid cancer. the sigmoid part is in the colon, but it's not straight colon cancer. it is a stage 3 cancer, so the doctors figure he has probably had it for at least a few years.
