Hey Philly and all others I met here a few months ago. My MIL is doing fine, in a couple of weeks she will have 2 years cancer free. My Uncle, however, is not. He went into the hospital yesterday with an intestinal blockage. He was diagnosed 6 years ago with prostate cancer..did great with treatments, diagnosed a little over 4 years ago with colo-rectal cancer....did okay with treatment...diagnosed 2 years ago with stomach/intestinal cancer. With no biopsy done yet (hence the impatient part) the possible diagnoses are: blockage due to scar tissue, sort of treatable, but will recur frequently or recurrance of the cancer. Leaning toward the latter diagnosis. He and my aunt (and their 8 kids and their spouses as well as his sister, her brother-my dad- and her sisters, weighing in with opinions) will have to decide for longer life with less quality of life or shorter life with more quality.
This aunt and uncle and their kids once lived with us for 6 months, waiting to purchase a house. (Can you IMAGINE 4 adults, 10 kids, a toddler and a baby in a 4 bedroom, one bathroom house?) My cousins, two of his daughters, helped me through all the ups and downs of my sister's illnes and death. We are, to say the least, closer than most extended families.
UGH. I hate waiting.

Hi Beth
Oh saying prayers for your uncle.
Uncle had a segment of the sigmoid colon removed, and multiple cells were taken for biopsy. He will have the "bag" and other choices are deferred until the biopsy results are in. My father (his BIL) bullied him into signing the consent forms...Dad doesn't agree with giving up until all avenues are closed.
Uncle has developed a touch of pneumonia, so he is in ICU.
Beth
Thanks for the update.
