Hello,
My mother was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma back in October.
She has been in and out of the hospital and has received chemo treatment.
In addition to this, she has ovarian cancer, too.
She regularly develops a fever. Unfortunately, we have been told not to give her any medicine for the fever until her fever reaches over 101.0 for more than four hours. In the meantime, we cool my mother with wet towels until the fever comes down.
(This sometimes last about 1- 2 hours with us changing/placing towels on her head and hands at 5- 15 minute intervals. We also make sure that the house if very cool.)
Although this doesn't happen every night (often every other night), it does get very tiring and frustrating for her.
Has anyone else every been faced with a similar dilemma? If so, how did you handle this?
How are you able to "calm" the fever.
thanks for your help
