Hi again! I know I've been quite scarce since my mom went into remission. You were all a great source of support, ideas, and information when we battled my mom's Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma last year. I thought I'd update you on her condition and maybe it will give some of the new people hope or something.
My mom was diagnosed in January of 2006. She went through chemo, and it killed all of the cancer cells, but did not shrink the tumor. She kept a wonderful attitude through the entire ordeal. She is now in remission (with the tumor) and her next check up is not for 6 months (a milestone, I believe!). She is back to work 6 hours a day and truly believes that she can conquer the world now.
My mom got a call this evening. She has been elected to be the Grand Marshall (or whatever you call it) of the Relay for Life in her community! COOL! She will have to give a speech at some big meeting and have an interview with the newspaper. I'm sure there will be more; I'm not sure what all it will entail. A lot of the reason that she got this nomination was due to her positive attitude and outlook during her battle with cancer. She always believed that she would beat it, and she did.
It's amazing how much stress I felt during this last year. I'm finally starting to feel like myself. I hope all of your stories have happy endings, too.
Tamie
