Hi, all. I'm new to this board and just found out that my 35-yr-old sister has a rare condition. I'm hoping I can find someone who has been through this or has heard of her type of cancer.
I'm not sure of the spelling, so bare with me - it's papilloadenomacarcinoma. The thing that has the docs baffled is that it is in her lungs, which apparently is very rare. She went to her doc with trouble breathing and ended up having an open lung biopsy this week. Results came back today. A total body CAT scan came back clear, so although the cancer did not start in her lungs, it is not showing up anywhere else. At this point, her doctors are going to present her case to their "tumor board" and possibly refer her to Birmingham (she's in Alabama) or to Vanderbilt.
The entire family is shocked. I live in another state and have no idea what to do to help. There is no prognosis at this point. Once she recovers from the biopsy, they will start chemo.
Anyone else have experience with a cancer like this?
Amy
