I am new around here and I really do not think I could get through a long drawn out introduction right now, so I will just hit the facts. My mother turned 79 on 9/17, I lost my father to lung cancer in 1992. This past Thursday we found out that my mother has been hiding a lump in her breast since June. She decided that it was probably too late to do anything about it and planned on saying nothing. Initially, I was angry, but now I'm more hurt. I don't understand how she could just give up like that without even trying to put up a fight. I mean, yes, now she's willing to see the proper doctors and investigate what treatments are available, but if there hadn't been another health problem that drove her to emergency, we never would have found out. I should have known something was up with her. She's been bugging me to get a mammogram for the past few months, but I just ignored her. I am just so scared.
I believe I understand her reasoning. She lost her last sibling (a sister) in November of last year and that pretty much left her alone (both parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters), but she still has us.

Hello
Oh I am so sorry your Mom is going through so much.
