I found out a week and a half ago that my sister had to go into the hospital for lung surgery to remove a spot found on an x-ray. The surgery went well and the spot was removed. Two days after the surgery she developed pneumonia in both lungs and her blood pressure dropped dramatically. The doctors were able to bring her pressure back up, but had to put her on a ventilator. She has had a diseased pancreas for many years so had to have special precautions taken with all of her treatments.
She has been sedated and unconcious since the pneumonia set in. Sunday we had news that she was improving and the doctors would wean her of the oxygen slowly. My other sister called today and said the doctors stopped the sedatives but she failed to respond and is now in a coma. They did an MRI and found 3 bleeding brain lesions, and her bowels are shutting down.
She is only 47 years old. Our family is devastated. I will continue to pray for a miracle, but it seems futile.

Hi, my name is Pat and I feel for you. My sister passed away July of last year from a rare form of cancer called Colangio carcinoma. It started in her gall bladder then spread to her liver/pancreas/stomach after an operation they perfomed called a whipple. They said they got most of it, but when they mean "most' it means most, not all. To make a long story short, she ended up dying almost a year later. No insurance, nothing to leave behind. She had three young daughters, all in the early/late 20's.
It was hard to watch my sister deteriorate day after day. We or I finally came to the realization that she was not going to beat it, so I finally prayed to God that if He was going to take her, to please not let her suffer too much and I think that's the way it went. She was let go by all my family, surrounded by those who loved her and still love her. It is still very hard to think about my sister. My first question was why God! Why her and not me! She was a saint to us, never cussed, never drank or smoke, not like the rest of us. But it seems that God only takes those that are worthy and we are not, not yet anyway.
I am so sorry to hear about your sister, and I will keep her in my prayers. My sister was only 49, too young to die, but I am certain the Lord needed her for His work. I hope I did not make you any sadder, not my intention. Till we talk again.
