Worried about my dad

Hi Everyone,
Im new to the board. My family and I just found out on Jan 10th that my dad has colorectal Cancer. We dont know how bad it is yet. He hasnt heard back from the surgen.....his office was closed on Friday.....The symptoms that my dad had was bleeding, diahrea and very tired. The symptoms started in the summer....I'll say mid summer July/Aug...And he had a colonospy on the 10th of Jan and found out. Im having a hard time personaly with this. I never though this would happen to us and the unknown is too overwhelming for me to handle right now. I've educated myself so much on Colon Cancer in the last few days. I do feel better that I know about it. My dad seems alright with it. He hasnt showed any emotion at all -according to my mom. His brother had prostae cancer x2 and is a surviver....His mom as well had cancer. We think that he knew before the testing was done what he was going to be told. He's a very quiet man and doesnt express feeling much...... With all the stuff that I've read about Coloncancer it seems like the survival rate and being able to do surgery and remove it all is pretty good....please correct me if Im wrong.
I dont really know what Im looking for I think more reasurance. I dont really have anyone to talk to other then my mom. Im an only child and to say the least this is a total shock to me.
Thanks so much if you've read this far. I look forward to reading your responces...........
Jenn

Welcome to the board, Jenn.
Welcome to the board Jenn.
Back with an update. I just found out that they can't see the surgen till Monday Jan 21st at 10am. But they (surgens office) said that they would probley do surgery next week or the week after......Its not a long waiting list. So thats so good news. He still hasnt showed any emotion....Im a bit concerned about that. This is a big waiting game! and I dont want to play anymore!
