First of all let me say, I know how hard it is to watch a family member battle cancer. Here is my story.

I was 18 years old, a daddy's say the least. He was my hero, friend, and advisor.  He was a very healthy man, hardly ever got sick or complained.  He worked very hard and was very devoted to his family.  On April1, 2004, I got the news that would change the rest of my life. I was told my dad had lung cancer with brain masteses. My dad was determined he was going to battle it. He done really good, he was so strong in my eyes, and never let us kids know if he hurt, how bad it was. He was known all over town for his generosity, always helping someone when they were in need. It was just 3 short months later when we were told that there was nothing else they could do and sent him home on hospice. 1 month later, on August 23, 3004, my daddy passed away at 11:30pm. I was holding his hand when he took his last breath.

I have had a battle with depression and anxiety ever since he was first diagnosed, although I tried to remain strong, it got the best of me for the first year after. I am getting better now and am willing to be an ear for anyone who needs it, because I know how hard it is to lose a family member, especially a parent to cancer. Right now I have an uncle who has cancer, he is too weak for treatments. It is like losing a second father, I still go to psychologists and I have a strong support system built up for myself.
