My Dad who has been healthy his entire life was diagnosed with Primary Myelofibrosis this past Thursday. That day we were all over the moon happy because his BMB was negative for any type of cancer. However...after reading the lit. the Oncologist gave to him about the condition he does have broke our hearts.
It's a very, very rare disease and the median life after diagnosis is 5 years. Although he's presenting no symptoms as of yet....his white cell count has topped out at 30,000.
I keep searching the net for information and I find myself crying more and more. I see this man every single day of my life (I work with him). He's everything to me...and to think that this disease will take him away and weaken him is killing me.
I know he doesn't technically have cancer...this is the only board I could find for support.
My heart goes out to all of you as I have read some of your posts. I will be here for you as I hope you are for me.
I'm broken hearted....it hurts so badly.
