MIL and children question....

We just got the news that my mil, who has been battling BC for almost 2 years, now has 6 tumors in her brain that may very well be cancerous. 2 are very large and are affecting her ability to walk. The prognosis is not good. She went to the lawyers last week and signed over all her property to her kids so there will not be any problems when she passes. My dh and I are handling it fairly well as we've had time to assimilate all the possibilities. My question is about my children, 7 yrs and 5 yrs. When and how do I tell them that mommom is ill and will probably die? Bekah (7) will take it especially hard. She was in tears the other weekend when all she was told was that Mommom wasn't feeling well that day. She kept saying..."I don't want her to die, Mommy!" It breaks my heart to have to tell her, but I don't want to put it off too long or tell her too soon.......Does anyone have any suggestions? Anything will be appreciated......
