My Grandmother Has Very Little Time Left

Well, my grandmother was given some bad news yesterday.  She was dx'd with ovarian cancer several weeks ago and has had many problems since.  8 weeks ago she was living on her own and driving where she wanted.  She has been living in a nursing home for a few weeks and was in the hospital before that.  They are no longer going to give her chemo because of all of the adverse reactions she has been having with little improvement.  She is in renal failure now and has been moved to residential hospice at a hospital.  I don't know much more than that but I do know that she just wants her life to be over quickly.  I don't think that she will opt for dialysis.  I am not sure how long she has but the doctor in charge, who just happens to be her oncologist, is going to do an assessment tomorrow.  I will talk to him after the assessment to see how much time he thinks she has in his experience.

I am very sad but I want her to do what she wants and feels is right for her.  I want to go to see her as soon as she will allow me.  I didn't get to say good-bye to my grandpa because he was unconscious by the time I got to the hospital and he died 2 days later.  Last night she told my mom that she needed my hand to hold.  I just want a couple of weeks with her so that I make sure that she is comfortable and that she truly is ready to go.  My family is really close and this is going to be really hard.  She is 85 and she has lived an awesome life.
