I came looking to see if iVillage had a support board and am glad that I found one. I am not new to iVillage, in fact used to be a co-cl on Midwest At Home Moms (now Midwest and Northern Moms).
My brother is 36 and has been diagnosed with MS in February 2007. He was having problems with his health again and we came to find out February 2008 that he has cancer. He started treatments a while ago. He was doing infuron treatments with chemo, it was an experimental treatment. Today he went for his catscan to see what his progress is. Well the news was not good. The spot on his one lung has decreased (that was positive) but the spots on his colon/abdomen are larger and they now see one on his liver as well. This was hard news to swallow. I feel helpless and came to see how others could tell me how to support him. He said that today will be his pity party day and tomorrow he will pick himself back up and trudge on with a more positive attitude. I was glad to hear him talking like that, but I still wanted to read and see what else I could get out of a board like this.
They have him set up to start a new treatment on May 29th (non experimental this time), it will be a chemo once a week for 3 weeks, 3-4 hrs at a time. His previous treatment was infuron injections and chemo once in a while 5-6 hrs at a time.
Thanks for reading...
Connie
