My mom just started on Tarceva...

I just got back home after a summer internship and saw my mom for the first time on Sunday after she started her lung cancer treatment with Tarceva.  She has broken out all over her face, head and chest, morale is low and she generally doesn't want to leave the house if it's not for a Doctor's appointment.  I was trying to cheer her up over the phone, but seeing her like this is hard.  She keeps staring at herself in the mirror and just lounges around the house watching tv.  I want to try to be there for her and not just let her be because I know how much it's driving her crazy that she looks that way.  What can I do?  She is not prone to talking about her feelings, but I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks.

Hi, there is a product that likely will help your mom with her Tarceva rash. It is the Lindi Skin Serum. A close friend of mine, who also has lung cancer, has experienced the pain and isolation of having the awful rash that Tarceva causes. I was doing some research at the time to help another friend who was having hand-foot syndrome when I discovered the Lindi products. The serum was developed just for Traceva rashes and it has worked very well for my friend.

Having cancer is isolating enough without having to worry about major skin issues. The rash from Tarceva can be so debilitating that some people stop taking the drug. Think about giving the Lindi products a try--I really think that they can help.

I am so sorry that your mom has to go through this. And I am sorry that you have to go through it too. Sounds to me like you are a pretty nice daughter. It can be so hard to know how to help a loved one going through cancer treatments. You are doing a good job in being there for your mom. There are a lot of practical and functional products that can help your mom as she goes receives chemotherapy and other treatments. I hope that you mom gets some relief from her rash. Once she does that, I hope that you two can get out of the house and have some fun together.

Having that rash is a sign that the drug will work better.

According to the info on Tarceva that I've read getting a rash is a good sign the medication will be more effective.
