Mesothelioma?

Has anyone had any experience with mesothelioma? My mother (70 yrs old) was diagnosed a year and a half ago. The doctors gave her a year, with chemo. She did chemo had while it was really harsh, she rebounded and did well until about two months ago. Now the cancer is growing again and it's getting hard for her to breathe. The doctor is sending her back to chemo, and they are trying to arrange radiation to target the area where the tumor is pressing on the heart. My mom lives 90 miles from where she gets her treatment, so the daily radiation for five weeks is taking some arrangement as we try to find a closer site with the capabilities.

We don't hear much about mesothelioma on our boards -- I did want to share this information with you in case it might contain something new.

The daily trip to radiation must be exhausting

Thanks--the fact that is such a rare cancer has been frustrating. One surgeon completely missed it in an earlier biopsy, and the doctors in her home town have never seen it. Only two cases were diagnosed in her state last year, and she was one of them. We traveled to see a specialist, but she wasn't a candidate for surgery so she did chemo and it did give her more time.

Thanks again--
