Hi everyone - I hate to say it, but I'm back again.  I just recently found out that a good friend of mine, also a coworker, was just diagnosed with seminoma.  Where it's near the holiday season and our work "team" always tries to put forth a volunteer effort, I wanted to do something related to this.  This could be nondescript such as a donation to the American cancer society, donating to our local hospital (time, toys, money, etc), or donating vacation time to our friend directly as he goes through his treatment.  I was shocked, however, to have zero support on this from my workplace.  They have decided that because he has an illness, and he can claim FMLA (etc), he doesn't really need any support, and to mention it (whether its his name or just the big "C" itself I'm not sure) would be politically incorrect, so we're just going to remain quiet and pretend he's just fine.  While I can understand not spreading word of who has it and what (not really anyone's business but his) I'm appalled at the lack of motivation to support him and his family.

I was wondering if any of you might have run into this, and if any of you might have some ideas of things we could do to support him that might get around this.

Hi, there! I'm so sorry that I don't have any ideas or suggestions to offer you. But I did want to acknowledge you're being here and to compliment you on caring so deeply for your friend. Hopefully, someone will come along soon that can be of help to you.

Take care and I hope your friend knows how fortunate he is to have you in his corner!

Hugs, Geri
