I have no answer to this but I am very interested in the answer. Hope someone can share their experience!
I am very interested in this - good stuff can be more concentrated if we do 1X. It could motivate me to hang at 1X instead of stop altogether when DS reach 6 months. Do you have more information can share with me on this?
Once I dropped to 1x it was all over. I thought I could maintain a couple of ounces but very soon I was barely making or not even making an ounce. It made weaning a piece of cake, though. I wasn't taking any supplements or anything. Those who are taking Dom seem to be able to maintain 1x better, from what I have read.
At least three months now, I think - can't remember! My supply seems to have been quite constant, at about 30-50 ml a day, which is an ounce or two. I don't see why we shouldn't be able to do it indefinitely: lots of BF toddlers only breastfeed once a day, some only a few times a week.
I've just returned from a week-long camping trip without the pump (had no discomfort at all) and will let you guys know how long it takes for my supply to return! (Day 1: 70 ml, Day 2: 10 ml)
I was pumping 1x a day for a month and down to an avg of 6 ounces a day, I could go up a few ounces if I took Reglan regularly. However, I'm now back to 2x a day because of realizing I didn't have enough in the freezer to last a full year.

Found some info on composition of BM at low volumes here's the link:

I can't find the original article
Goldman AS et al. "Immunologic components in human milk during weaning." Acta Paediatr Scand. 1983 Jan;72(1):133-4.]
Or even the abstract for it, probably not in English. Is anyone better at lit searching than me and could find it?
Hi,
I found that literature but I got to pay to read it....
But, instead, I found this. Very technical but also interesting, take a look!
