I began pumping when my DD was one week old, and I pumped 8 times per day.

I began Eping about 6 weeks pp. I pumped about 7 times my first day, then found out I could pump more and increase my supply, so I began pumping 11-13 times/day for about 10 days straight. I would pump 30 min, take an hour off, then pump 30 more minutes all day, and then went maybe 2 3-4 hours stretches at night. After that pump a thon I dropped to 8-9 times/day until 10 weeks, when I dropped to 7 pumps/day. Once I hit 12 weeks, I dropped a pump about every 2 weeks, until I reached 4 pumps at exactly 4 mos pp. My supply began at 26 ozs, was at about 32-33 at end of pump a thon, and was at 35-36 until the drop to 4 pumps when I began producing 33 ozs/day, and very slowly dropped over time. When I chose to wean at 8 mos I was at about 24-25 ozs/day.

HI Helymo,
I'm late to this post, but I wanted to know how you kept up such a rigorous pump schedule (11-13x per day) for so long and still care for and spend time with baby??? I guess you also didn't have much pain during pumping, huh?

Thanks!

I started pumping the next day after my son was born and tried for the 8 times a day, but usually only could fit in 7 pumps (every 2-3 hours around the clock

According to our board survey..

At 4 weeks
.
The modal (occurs most often) amount of pumps is 8, but the mean is 7 (although the mean may be reduced by people not pumping exclusively at this point, so i'd need to look at individual results.)

At 8 weeks

The mean number of pumps is 7, and most people are pumping 7 or 8 times.

At 12 weeks

The mean number of pumps is 6 and most people are pumping 6 or 7 times

At 16 weeks

Most people are pumping 5 or 6 times (mean is 5.5)

At 20 weeks

Mean number of pumps is 5, and there is a pretty even distribution between pumping 4, 5 and 6 times

At 6 months

Mean number of pumps is 4

At 9 months

Mean number of pumps is 3.5 (most people pumping 3 times, but 44% are pumping more than that - 4, 5, or 6 times)

At 12 months

Mean number of pumps is 3
