Is this normal? Lumps?

Hi Everyone,

I am new to this board and I wish I had known about it sooner! I have been pumping exclusively for 13mos now. I am currently trying to wean myself from the pump.

I was down to 3 pumps a day and I had several clogged almost made it to Mastitis but I caught it and worked it out . I had planned to cut my pumps down to one but the other day I woke up to pump and I barely got anything out...maybe 1/2 an ounce from both breasts. So I decided I would not pump

I think normal can vary from person to person, but in my experience in weaning I had a number of hard spots or "lumps" as you call them and my

Thank you very much for your response!

I went ahead and pumped for just a few minutes today and oohhhmgosh it felt sooo good!! I only got about an ounce out and the milk was really thin/watery...nothing like it's been the last 12mos. I still have the lump and it is sore. I have not noticed any streaking or hotness yet. I also have a lump on the other breast although it is not as sore.

I picked up some sudafed as I read that can help in the drying up process...I was not planning to take those meds but at this point I'm willing to try anything! I think i'll see about picking up some lechithin...not sure if that will be helpful now that i've quit pumping.

You're right...I should see a doctor or see my lactation specialist. I think I will do that after tomorrow- I want to wait one more day and see how i feel.

Thanks again for sharing your advice!

So how is everything now, a week later?

I was going to recommend massaging your breasts while pumping to dig in and get that big lump out.
