Well I was advised by my doctors office to quit pumping cold turkey. I have been exclusively pumping since my daughter was 5 months old, she is now almost 10. I have enough milk to make it, at the least, to her first birthday. I am very proud of this, but I am ready to have my body back.
So, back to the cold turkey. I am now 52 and a half hours with out pumping. I was at 4 x a day for at least 40 minutes each time. Pumping about 38 oz a day. The first 36-40 hours were unbearable, I could barely hold my daughter. But when I woke up this morning I was able to poke and prod myself, and not so bad. I am still hard and uncomfortable, and it is still hard to hold Holly. Warm showers have really helped. I am taking sudafed (120 mg) a day and 800 mg of ibprofen 3 times a day, and using ice and cabbage.
I just wanted to let other people know about my experience this far. I have not been able to find many people who have quit cold turkey, and the few that I have read about really helped me, hopefully I can help someone else.
