For those that have dropped from 4-3....

Hi! I Need some encouragement, I'm in a slump:-(

I am considering dropping from 4-3 pumps this weekend. I am very nervous and worried that I will lose some of my supply, but feel I have to do it to keep my sanity. I am pumping an average of 30 oz. daily with 12 oz in my AM pump. The most I've pumped at one time is 13-14 oz. Since Cooper has found out what fun it is to be mobile, he is no longer content sitting and playing. He wants to crawl and get into everything. Even baby proofing hasn't helped. He is too crafty;-) If I can drop to three pumps, I will only have one pump a day without dh home to entertain him. I think I can pump longer in the long run if I do this. Today was a very trying day for me, if weaning was something you could do spontaneously I would have.

Did your supply dip when you dropped this pump? I hope I will be ok dropping down to three. I am thinking mine will have to drop if I ever drop down to 2 pumps a day considering my bb capacity is around 13-14 oz. Am I right??

Thanks everyone!!

Well, I'm a little late to the party, but I just wanted to echo everyone in saying that the drop from 4-3 was wonderful for me. I only have one pump/day that I need to plan around her naps. Makes things so much easier.

I did take a hit when I went down to 3; I dropped from 55-60 down to an average of 48. But I think that my 55-60 avg was a little inflated due to a power pumping weekend when Care was getting the sniffles. I wanted her to have fresh milk at every feeding, so I was pumping 8 times/day for the first time in ages. My supply went up to a high of 60 ounces and held out there until I dropped to 3x/day. Then it dropped down to 48, which is where I was before the weekend.

Fingers crossed that you don't see too much of a dip.

Gotta go...Care is up from a nap (forgive any spelling errors)

Thanks everyone!

Today is the first day I have skipped my 3 PM pump. I am going to pump at 6 instead of 8 tonight. I already feel less stressed and have enjoyed my afternoon playing with Cooper.

I hope I will still be happy in a few days by

Hi Corky,

I am about 3 weeks into 3x/day and I have lost a few ounces, but nothing terrible. I am an HVP though so I could afford to lose a couple. I say go for it! You can always add it back and it is more important that you're happy. Plus, if you have a day where Cooper is being an angel or when dh is home (like the weekend), you could go ahead and pump 4x if you want to. It is sooo nice only having to pump once when Nicky is awake! He's only 5 months old. I can't imagine an 8 month old!

Good Luck!

I'm in the process of dropping from weaning and made the drop from 4 to 3 pumps last week.
