Dropped pump=engorged???

When I go 3-4 hours without a pump my nipples are tingling and my boobs get hard and hurt. What happens when you start dropping them and having more time in between pumps? Will I get clogged ducts? Or will my boobs adjust?

My son will be 6 weeks old Tuesday- do you think it's too early for me to start dropping pumps? I don't think I will drop the middle of the night one, just lenthen the time in between them to 3 1/2 hours instead of 3- or giving myself a few 4 hour stretches in day will drop me to 7. I'm just losing my mind and my son is getting soooo fussy these days...and it's always when I have to pump. I have wanted to stop so many times this past week.

I think you should be fine going down to 7 or even 6 ... try lengthening between a few during the day and get to 7 first, wait a week and see if supply stays up.
