NO scam. My sons 3.5 and has been on it since birth. Its pretty cheap and creditable. I plan to add my daughter to it as well.

We also have this policy for my DD and she's 2.5. It's been around awhile. Reliable and cheap insurance. If you purchase while their young the rates are lower than if they were going to purchase life insurance in their 20's. It's a great gift for when their older - we talked grandma into giving it as a gift since she didn't want to buy clothes or toys.

Gerber life insurance has been around forever.. no scam.. I have my OWN personal life insurance thru them as well as my daughter. They wont cover my premature daughter yet, said to wait a year and reapply.

I also looked into it and my MIL adviced against it. She is a financial planner and suggested that we add our children into our policy that we currently have. In the event that something happened to our children, we would need money for funeral costs, but that's it. So we added $10000 for each of our children. The Gerber plan is much more expensive than what we chose. Just my opinion though, research your own options with your life ins. company. And my MIL says, always buy term life insurance.

My mother was in insurance and said that for what you need it for, heaven for bid, the Gerber plan is fine. I bought a policy for our daughter already. You can cash it in for cash value, so I don't see a problem with it. My owe policy came through Fremont Mutual and was purchased when I was 10. I still have it.
