Giving Birth Fears!

It will be ok, really! I had my daughter 4 weeks ago, and was afraid of everything...birth pain, taking her home, etc. I found the prepared childbirth classes (lamaze) and such helped - at least I knew a little better what to expect. Here's the reality - it DOES hurt, but if you have something to help you cope, you can get through it. My mom and husband helped me focus on the lamaze breathing, and even though I was having back labor, it distracted me enough that I could deal with it. I don't think it matters what technique you use - pick one that YOU believe will help you! (If you feel silly doing breathing exercises, for example, then there's NO way it will help) And ultimately, let go and try to remember the goal - a beautiful baby. If that means you need meds to get through the pain, so be it. If you have a c-section (as I ultimately did) with or without laboring, that's ok too. The pain has a definite ending, and after a week or two, you won't remember what you were so worried about. Good luck to all of you.

We've all felt those fears, but if you educate yourself and make sure to take classes, it won't be quite so fearful. I took hypnobirthing classes and delivered my son without any pain meds. It can be done and it wasn't really painful, except for when he was crowning. Everyone has a horror story to share, so don't fall into that trap. I really enjoyed my birth and had a great experience.
