Best Friend pregnant...how can I help!?

Hi all. I'm new to this board. I just got wonderful news from my best friend. She lives 3 hours away from me and just found out she's pregnant. How can I help her? She lives with her husband who is in the military and sometimes away 3 days at a time because of his shift. I want to send a gift but I know it's still early and I want to be careful. I was thinking about sending her the book "What to expect when you're expecting"...any other suggestions on what your girlfriends did for you when you first found out? I don't want to be pushy, but I want her to know that I'm here for her even though I'm 3 hours away. I hope to be there for her throughout the pregnancy...any advice?

I actually posted a story on the other board of what my best friend got for me. It's a statue made by Willow Tree - this one is called "Cherish Awaiting a Miracle" the statue is a pregnant woman holding her tummy with angel wings. It's absolutely beautiful, it made me cry! I will cherish it forever. They are 29.99 CDN, I know because they have many different kinds and I'm getting the Grandmother one for my Mom when we give her the good news.
She's lucky to have such a thoughtful friend!

Just ideas -
To pass along the thought, I sent a gift basket to another friend when I found out she was expecting. It included:
* Mint Tea - Celestial Seasonings makes a Tummy Time tea and a Tension Tamer tea. Both are decaf.
* Ginger Lemon Tea -decaf! (people tend to really like either mint or ginger for upset tummies)
* Suckers - Hard candy apparently helps get your stomach juices moving again and helps nausea.
* 3 Travel Packs of Tums - different flavors
* Tylenol (I used to be an Advil fan, which I found out is a HUGE no-no)
* Spiral note pad for purse (This has been great for To-Do's: from "What to Buy for Dinner" to "What to Take to the Hospital")
* Cute Sticky note pad for everywhere else! (I found my memory went from a steal trap to swiss cheese!)
* 50 Ways to Pamper Yourself at Home
* Journal - Even if she's not big into journaling, I found writing in it once a month has been really great to look back at. She can write to her baby or one lady wrote in it how her DH had been helpful during the pg and gave it to him at the birth.
After all was said and done, I spent $50. I put it all in a basket that I thought she might be able to use in the baby's room. I put little notes on everything so that she would know what the reason behind each item was. (I didn't find out about ginger tea until the "morning" sickness was over and I didn't own Tylenol until I had to go to the store in pain.)
Congratulations to your friend and big hugs to you for being so thoughtful!!!
