I had to vote other because I'm torn... I grew up saying pop in the good old Midwest (Chicago), but at some point it became soda for me... Most often, though, I just refer to the specific name of the drink.

When I lived in Washington State everyone there called it pop. I have been back and forth between California and Washington since then and have gone back and forth between soda and pop. I was born in Cali. and don't plan on leaving so I voted for soda.

What part of WA state? I live near seattle and I don't remember anyone calling it pop ever! However, the seattle area and some other parts of the state are like night and day.

I call it what it is - 7-Up, Dr. Pepper, Coca Cola, Pepsi, Mountain Dew, whatever. I live in the south, but came here from Germany at age 5. I don't know if it's a southern thing or northern thing, but I've never generically called a carbonated drink other than what it is. I love Coca Cola, and when I say I want a Coke, I mean a Coke - not just any ol' carbonated drink! ;-)
