There are a few new "rules" for the new board. The new set up means we will have to change the manner in which we post our items. Because the new format includes permanent folders, there will be no archiving - your posts stay active forever, however they will

slide further down the list as more posts are added. Here is an example of how to post your FSOT items:

Click on Start A New Discussion under the FSOT folder. Enter a title/subject such as "My Items for Sale (m)".

Then in the body of this post, list all the items or categories of items you have for sale or a website URL where all of your items can be viewed and your email address. DO NOT start a new discussion or a reply to the main post for every item or category you wish to list! This type of "board hogging" will be reported to ParentsPlace.

If you sell some items that you have posted, you can edit your original message and remove the items that have been sold without having to send a new reply to update your list.

As time goes on, your post will slide further down the list as more posts are added. In order to move your items back into a more visible spot, you can "bump" your post by adding a reply that simply says "bump" in the body. We ask that you only "bump" your post up ONCE per day (ie. you may log in on Wednesday to bump your post from Tuesday up to the top of the list). If you bump your post or post a new "these items still for sale" discussion more than once per day, appropriate action will be taken. Editing your original post to update your list and remove items that have sold will not bump you, so this is really the best way to make updates to your lists.

Please follow these simple rules regarding posting on this new board. We would like to keep this a nice, friendly board and do not want to have arguments started over little things like people bumping up their posts or "overposting."

I am not sure if this is the appropriate place to ask this, but is it considered bumping if you add more merchandise to your FSOT list? I can rarely list all of my stuff in one sitting. :lol

Well, it isn't considered bumping if you come back and post more BUT...if you come back and list 1 new thing every half hour or hour EVERY SINGLE HOUR OF THE DAY...that's bumping. But if you come and list like 10 things and come back later and post your remaining 10...that isn't bumping.

It's just good practice to not be hogging the board. Just be respectful of your board members. The whole "do onto others" thing would do really well right now!

Where are these "folders" you spoke of. I do not see any such organization. we used to have threads titled, "diapering" "ISO" "FSOT" etc. now it is very unusable. I used to be able to come to the board and scan just the diapers for sale etc. Glad I sold most of my stuff earlier this week.

Folders are the main headings....for right now they are Board Business, General Discussion, etc. When they are changed, there will be folders for each of our old headings, like FSOT, CD, ISO, etc. That way all posts for FSOT will be together so if you're looking to buy something, you don't need to read through all the ISO and auctions and other things mixed in. It will be WONDERFUL!

Help! LOL

I have no idea if I'm posting this in the right place so 50 lashes with a wet noodle for me if I'm not.

I'm trying to figure out which "view" of the board I like better, folder or outline. I think I actually prefer folder view however, I notice that when I choose outline view, I'm seeing more folders than in folder view. For example I see all the main ones like General Discussion and Off Topic but after all those I see "Archives" and a bunch of old posts (that were maybe carried over from the old board?). How do I change it so I can see those posts in folder view as well.

I'm too old for change...geez, first programming my vcr, now this LOL

Update.... okay, now I see the "archives" link.... why do archives show with all the other posts in outline view but not in folder view?

Here's a big fat I DON'T KNOW for ya! LOL

If you are in FOLDER view, you can go to the right hand side where there is a pull down menu that says ALL. There you can choose 2 days, 7 days, etc. Try changing that and see if that is what you're looking for.
