I don't think you were naughty. I think you were SMART! Spending that kind of money every couple months to stock up on the necessity items is very smart! Very. Dh and I are actually talking about buying a small chest freezer so we can do this exact thing. We currently have a side by side fridge and the freezer is tiny. Seriously. You have to take frozen pizzas out of their boxes to get them to fit! LOL. We want to do exactly what you did and can't because we run out of room in the freezer.
And WTG on the fruit! How awesome! Enjoy it! (I think you MIGHT be able to freeze some of the fruit too!)
That was a good shopping trip for you. I do that. Well the last time I did that was when we moved up here in January and we are still going through it. Well we stock up on meat and buy it every 3-4 months. One month its stocking up on meat the next staples. Like you we spend more on staples(canned goods, frozen veggies, noodles). We aren't big meat eaters so we only spend 100-150 about 4 times a year.
Oh and frozen grapes are one of me fave treats in the summer. Man I want some for breakfast. ;)
On the sort of funny side of this.
I think you did a great job of stocking up. I feel guilty too when I go and stock up. It is a lot of money going out, but the food should last you for a long time.
On another note...I too am in the Milwaukee area. I am praying for no snow. I am supposed to drive to Madison for dinner with my friends. I need a night out.
This is what my Weather Bug says right now.
