so sorry...that is a double whammy.
Good news is you did have the emergency fund and money to pay for the repairs, but I know it does stink to have to pay for those things.
Our car has been a money pit this week, a/c, rotors, brakes, boots, battery, starter...fortunately dh was able to fix everything himself but the a/c but I still hate to see all that money flying out of savings ;-)
Such a bummer!
I tell you, when it rains it pours. The only positive thing I can say is that thank goodness you had the money and did not have to use a credit card or worse not dealt with it all cause of no $.
I hope this is the last big thing to happen to you for quite some time.

(((Hugs)))...I have to agree with the others - the bright side is that you had the cash in savings, and didn't have to charge anything, plus you also have no car payment still!!!
We recently had our roofs (House and detached garage), trim and gutters redone. We got a very decent price (and they did a beautiful job!) and we were able to pay for the entire thing out of savings without the need for a loan, and without depleting our reserves. It kills me to hand over that money...but isn't that ideally what you put money away for, right!?
