Find a Conversation

My best friend gave us her 2000 Ford Taurus. She went through a rough time and was unable to address some engine issues it was having at the time. We believe the motor is now blown. She bought a new car and knowing we needed another car gave us the Taurus. I've been trying to find a motor for it and someone to put it in for over a month now.
When we first started this, finding a motor was the hard part as I had more than one person who was willing to work on the car. Now, I'm able to find a motor but can't seem to find ANYONE who will work on this car. I call around and as soon as they ask "What kind of car is it?" and I say "Ford Taurus" the conversation goes downhill from there.
I live in GM country. And I admit that I am a GM girl to the core. I've never owned a Ford before, but I wasn't about to throw away a free car regardless of the brand. Putting a new engine in this car will be far cheaper than buying another car - IF I can ever find someone to do it!
I feel like this is a victory (free car!) but it's a frustrating victory.
