Hi, my name is Heather, and I'm an impulse buyer. I've spent $901.19 on groceries alone in the first 3 months and another $507.62 on household supplies . Consequently,

((((HUGS)))) Heather! I can relate, I am an impulse buyer too! The ONLY way to avoid this is to simply stay OUT of the store! Easier said then done, I know. I love to shop! Doesn't matter what I am buying, I truly love the shopping experience! Even online! I often shop recreationally! I'm sure some psychiatrist would tell me that I am filling some kind of void in my life...or maybe not, maybe I am just one of those people born with an extra shopping gene! ;P

Anyway, I can totally sympathize!

You know what fixes impulse buying?

Working at the store.

No. Really. I am serious. When you work at a particular store you lose all interest in shopping. You spend so much time in that environment that when you aren't working, the LAST place you want to be is in a store! Seriously.

I work for WM and let me tell you... after being there for 9 hours a day/4-5 days a week I have NO desire to be there on my "off" time. Really cuts down on the shopping! lol.

Are you in NE Ohio by any chance? Your Acme/Giant Eagle reference made me wonder.

Oh my, I found it worse. I worked at WM many moons ago. I was primarily a cashier but I'd see junk go through my line and think "I need that"!! Or at night when emptying those carts from courtesy I'd see stuff that I didn't know they made or carried, etc. Altough, I didn't usually have extra money to spend back then so I didn't buy much.

I wonder if taking a second look might help?

Sometimes, what we put on paper doesn't equate to real life. Impulse shopping MIGHT be a sign that the budget and shopping list is based more on wannabe rather than reality.

Track what you are impulse buying. Just because it's someone else's splurge doesn't mean it's a splurge for YOUR disposition, emotional makeup, and life situation. If the impulse items
