What I'd really like to know is how DH read that article and came away with "everything is cheaper at the supermarket except bell peppers" (getting it ABSOLUTELY backward).

For me, the bell peppers (colored/mixed, or red) are less expensive at Costco than at a supermarket (although not necessarily less expensive at Sunflower Farmers Market or Trader Joe's). Even the supermarket's sale prices. However, colored or red bell peppers are not the least expensive veggies that I can buy, so when I'm looking to slash the food budget, I don't buy them at all.

Colored bell peppers are one of the few pieces of produce we actually buy at Sam's because they're usually cheaper per pepper than at our Kroger (and sorry, Aldi's produce looks sad and pathetic most of the time). We love peppers and can easily eat six in a week, so it works :)

Price books are key, imho. That's the only real way to know if a price is the best!
