We have always chosen to keep only the amount of clothing we actually needed and could use.

I aim for nine complete outfits per child--that leaves me enough wiggle room so that if I don't get to the laundry one weekend they won't be completely out of clothes on Monday morning!

i'd have to go count but both kids closets are full and we need to add another rack in alex's...i grew up with pretty much 2-3 outfits at a time and usually they didn't fit so i admit i buy the kids way too many clothes but they wear them all LOL

Now that they're older, my boys mostly wear jeans - and they have about 3 pair each, several t-shirts/long-sleeved shirts, a few nice/hanging shirts for church and two pairs of shoes. For summer, the boys have about 4 pair of shorts each....my DD takes care of her own clothes, so I have no idea about the multitude of clothes she may have in her dresser ;^)

I agree with the poster about the nightmare it is to change seasons - it usually takes me a full month to change all of the clothes over...then because we live in Michigan, we'll get either a cold spell in the summer or a warm spell in the winter - it's craziness!

hello!! you know, i ask myself this question a lot too. i have 2 girls...i love buying clothes for them. then when i go out with my mother, we always go to lunch and then to target where she buys them an outfit. we usually go out once a month. i love going in their dressers and finding "new" clothes for them to wear. i love wearing "new" clothes myself. i love hand me downs and hate passing up great sales!! so i dont know how much is enough. i would have to say how often do you wash clothes? i usually do clothes once-twice a week. so generally i would say 6-7 pairs of pants and 6-7 shirts are good. (then in the summer-6-7 pairs of shorts)7-8 pairs of socks...the underwear-do they change underwear twice a day or just once a day?? my girls change theirs before bed and in the am so they need 12-14 pairs. plus my oldest wears a bra now and she likes to change that everyday so we have 7 of those too. we only have 1 pair of shoes and 1 winter coat apiece for them...but we do have a bunch of spring/fall jackets! like i said i hate passing up a good deal and i love my kids wearing clothes that i wore...i have the same problem you do about clothes fitting into dressers and closets though. i know we
