This month's grocery challenge will focus on the healthy shopping trip. It's all about trying to make every grocery excursion a healthy one. I saw this in the 8/08 issue of Prevention magazine and thought it would be a great challenge for us!

You will need 3 different colored pens or highlighters to mark your grocery receipts. I'll be using blue, yellow and pink, so that's the colors I'll use in the following details. Mark up your receipt like this:


BLUE--for every fresh food purchased (fruits, vegetables, fresh meat and fish), dairy (milk, eggs, cheese, etc.) and also things like rolled/steel-cut oats (not instant!), whole wheat flour, beans (dried or canned),

mary you can microwave old fashioned oats just the same as instant, but it is so much better for you! I keep a 1/3 cup scoop in the canister and a 1/2 cup by the sink...and pop in the the microwave for 1:30 and its yum! (just adjust the water to make it thin or thicker)
