"We're keeping vehicles longer than ever. Last year the median age of cars on the road was 9.4 years." Source: R.L. Polk & Co. (As seen in the Oct. 23, 2009 issue of AllYou magazine.)

How old are your cars & how long have you owned them?

Ours would fit in that median age & over.......

14 years--1995 Corsica that we've owned about 2-1/2 years.

10 years--1999 Ford Ranger that we bought in 2000.

9 years--2000 Chevy Suburban that we bought in 2004.

My van is a 2005 and I bought it in 2007. I'm actually thinking about selling it now and buying a car. My last van was a 1994, so it fits in the "longer on the road" catagory.

We have a 200O Civic and and 2005 CRV. We bought both of them new. They are both great, but in the next few years we'll probably get rid of the Civic for an Odyssey so that we have the extra space. So it looks like we're meeting that trend.

We have a 2002 Mountaineer that we bought new and a 2005 Mazda 3, also bought new. No plans in the future for another car, so we'll be meeting that median unless something happens.

The longest I've ever had a car was my 1969 Bug that my dad bought when I was 2. Kept it until 1989 when my brother totalled it. :-( I wish I still had it... it was a great car.

12 years - 1997 Astro Van - bought new

8 years - 2001 Ford F-150 - bought in 2002

8 years - 2001 Toyota Tacoma - bought in 2003

6 years - 2003 Lincoln Aviator - bought in 2006

My Astro van has been out of commission for the past 2 years since my dog attacked the wires and hoses trying to get a squirrel that ran up into the engine block. How a german shepard can fit underneath a low sitting van is beyond me, but he did it! DH has been working on it for the past 2 weeks. He thought the repair costs were going to be in the 1000's but so far, he has been able to repair and replace things for under $150.00. Should be up and running soon. It only has 92,000 miles on it and doesn't go in for a tune up until 100,000 miles!

Buying used cars is the only way to go!
