hello!! i always try to participate in this food drive. usually i buy food for it cuz i use whatevers in my pantry. i see whats on sale and make frugal buys to get a lot for a lil. i try to think about where its going and what would do the most good. i buy stuff like tuna/hamburger helper, sloppy joe mix, soup,
I never thought of syrup. That's a good one. You could also do pancake mix and Bisquick.
There's also canned fruit, like fruit cocktail, and applesauce.
Refried beans and other beans would be good. Garbanzo, kidney, white kidney etc. So many meals you can make with beans. Dried beans may be welcome too.
Bouillion cubes, and even spices might be good too. Lots of things to make lower cost meats flavorful, or things to make healthy soups.

Thanks, it helps a lot! Yeah, when buying canned meat (I was thinking tuna and chicken) any money doesn't go far!!
Thanks!

Thanks so much!
Thanks to all the help from y'all, when I went shopping yesterday I knew what kinds of food to be watching for a good sale.
I ended up with name brand tuna... Bumble Bee.
During the PO food drives, Tuna is the #1 item they get?
I try to call my local food pantry a few days before the drive and ask what they need.
Often times in the past I've been told paper items... papertowels, toilet paper, napkins.
Other times, health and beauty items, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste
My DS school runs a food drive several times a year and I usually buy breakfast things.
