Would this meter be good for me to use?

Hello,

I found this meter below on a website, and it was the cheapest one offered,

but really seems to have all I would need to get started testing my blood

sugar levels.

I don't have anyone that lives near me that has a meter, in order to ask

them to test me with theirs, and besides, I wouldn't feel comfy doing

that anyway.

So I figure that $40.00 isn't too much to pay to start monitoring my blood

sugar levels, and then keep a diary of my test results throughout the day,

so I can get an idea if I do indeed need to get into the ER or clinic to

be tested.

I have also downloaded a booklet, and saved it to file, on how to and

when to monitor and test my blood sugar levels during the day, and what

the levels should be at for normal readings.

I am either going to look into ordering this over the internet, or

looking for this particular meter at my local pharmacy store (CVS Pharmacy).

Since I am pretty much bound in the house for another 3 days, ordering

it online is looking more and more appealing. But I don't have a credit

card or debit card or checking account in order to order online, so I

will look into if they take Money Orders.

If not, I will just stop at the CVS Pharmacy place and have a look around

for this brand or something similar and reasonably priced.

Now that I think about it though, it would be better waiting 3 days, and

buying it at the pharmacy, than ordering online and having to wait a week

or even more for it to be delivered.

Any advice would be great on this! Thanks!

I use that meter myself, which I find it to be a great one with quick the meter reading the test strip in no time at all and giving the result so quickly. Especially since I have kids it helps to be able to get the result as quickly as possible. I highly recommend it, because I have 2 other meters by Accuchek and love them so very much. I would really look into finding one at a local pharmacy, because you save on the shipping price and don't have to wait for it to arrive. I know you should be able to find one at your local pharmacy and if not have them see if they can't get you one from their distributor for the pharmacy. I got mine free from my doctor when I was pregnant, but really wanted the new compact one with the test strips that you load up since I don't always have a free hand to put the test strip in while holding my yongest who doesn't want to be put down. I really think you will like this meter so very mucn and the lancet device is great. I am praying that you can pick one up at your local pharmacy on Monday, so do let me know if you get one that day or have to wait a bit to get one. Wishing you warm weather and tons of the strongest good luck. Have a fabulous day and take care.

I think that might be a good meter... another one you might want to check out is at Walmart.

You probably will want to check them out at the pharmacy. The meters are a one time expense, but the real expense to check is the price of strips. You will be buying them several times a year. I saw 100 strips for $72 at Sam's Club today for a Freestyle meter which I was given free at the diabetic class. I use a 'generic' true track meter, and the strips cost me $47 for 100. I will use about 1000 strips this year, so the difference is $470 vs. $720. I will continue to use my generic meter for now b/c I have to pay these expenses out of pocket, since we have a $1500 deductible. Michele H.

My nutritionist gave me an LifeScan Ultra. It takes just a drop...not much blood. It gives the current measurement sample, 14 day average and 30 day average. LifeScan replaced it for free in December for me. I was getting lots of error messages. Was diagnosed with insulin resistence 2 yrs ago and measured only once a day on a rotating basis. Mid January I was diagnosed with diabetes. Now I test 4-5 times daily. ICK!!!

Good luck in your efforts.
