We have had several new beading stores pop up in the last few months, so I am going to make myself one. Lifescan was to be sending me a bracelet, and I'm going to use that tag for mine. I was looking on eBay at their beaded medical ID bracelet's and found a place that had some pretty ones. I have a lot of ideas as to what I want to make. I'm also going to make a "mother's bracelet", a double strand beaded bracelet with my childrens name spelled out on their own strand.
I have my class with the CDE on the 9th, and I'd like to have the bracelet by then so I can look a bit ahead of the game to her. My books are on the way, I'm doing great with the diet because I fit into 2 pairs of jeans that have been too tight to fasten for quite some time. I bought new batteries for the scale today so I'll know soon enough how many pounds I've lost. Exercise is something I'm trying to work on...we're looking at recumbant bikes to have in the house to use. At -7 degree's, it's too cold to be outside!
Thanks again!

Hi Angie, what a fantastic idea. I never thought of making a beaded bracelet for a medical ID in which I have so many beads that I purchased and never got around to even using or trying out. I have never made a bracelet before in my life, but I am more then wlling to try it. I do have a question though about the bracelet making. Do you use wire or elastic to make them? I ask due to wanting to be able to take it off when I go to bed and shower, but also if it should have a clasp to do and undo. I would absolutely love to make my owm if I can just figure out how. I mean I can crochet, cross stitch, and even started doing web pages so that means I am not like unable to be craft.
Hi Denise! You can use either wire or elastic to make your bracelet on. Mine will be made of wire with lobster clasps on it. There are so many great clasps to choose from! If your ID plate on your bracelet has rings on it, you can use two clasps to hook onto the rings and then you can take it off when you want. You can also make other bracelets to interchange with the ID tag. The store I like here has classes and bead parties at night, but if you go in during the day, they'll help you make the bracelet and you can use their tools if you don't already have a tool to crimp the ends with at home.
My books arrived, and I started Type 2 Diabetes, The First Year by Gretchen Becker. I like it so far in that it's written so that you don't get overwhelmed. Each chapter is divided into 2 sections; "living" and "learning." There is a chapter for each day of the first week and then one for the 2nd week, one for 4 weeks, then it goes to each month throughout the first year.
Thank you so much Angie for getting back to me so quickly about the bracelets. I really would love to learn how to do wire bracelets, so I guess I better get looking for a good book to teach me and maybe even convince my husband
You are so sweet! Yes, I have a digital camera and will post pictures when I have it finished! Haven't started yet as I'm waiting for the bracelet to arrive that I'll take apart..unless the
What an absolute fantastic idea Angie. All of us who are so trying to loose can surely use some
Your beads sound wonderful..I'm sure your bracelets will be spectacular!
I too lack adult conversation as I spend my day with a 15 month old, and although we talk all day long..you know! My son is 8 so when he gets home from school
I'll have to see what I can find at Michaels for the bracelets I want to make, but once again will go grazing through Ebay for some more beads as usual. LOL I am addicted to Ebay that is for sure in which my husband and I are trying to save up for a embroidery machins so I can start my own store and have things to sell this way I can have my very own money to spend at Ebay. I feel so bad when I buy anything even if it is things for everybody, but would feel a ton better if I made some money to buy things I want to with not worrying about me spending to much. My wonderful husband thought it was a fantastic idea so I am hoping to save up enough very soon, but I know it will take time since those machines are in no way cheap at all. I guess for now I will just do some cross stitching and crocheting in which I am crocheting a blanket for one of my friends and have to do 2 more later down the road. I really love making crochet blankets even if it does take me some time since I have 2 little ones who need my attentiong during the day with my husbands work hours.
See we do have so many things in common, because I am also one who is so far out of the loop of "todays music"
Hi Denise! I too am addicted to eBay! Do you sell anything on there now? I sell all of Lily's clothes and make a bunch on them! We sell a lot of other items too, and buy too! I haven't looked at eBay for beads...I'll have to do a search for them later!
Yes, embroidery machines are expensive! I am so impressed with all they can do now. Do you sew alot? What do you embroider? I took up sewing last summer and embellished some bib overalls for my children, and make ribbies and have a new found passion of making fleece boa's.
Wow Angie, I had no
