I am purely exhausted right now. Been a hell of a day. I didn't get to go into the hospital till today. I suffered all day yesterday, nauseous and just feeling aweful, then through the night with a migraine and dozing in and out of sleep. The streets iced up yesterday and lastnight, so that kept me from going in yesterday like I wanted. I am so sorry I didn't write, but as you can well understand, I just didn't feel like being online.
So today, the weather got better, and the streets were dry, so we called our neighbor when he got home from work, and he was all too happy to take us out to the hospital. An angel in disguise! That was around 4:30pm when he drove us out, and we got to the hospital ER around 4:55pm, and of course had to do the signing in, giving all kinds of information, and then waited in the waiting room for about a half hour before being called. Then once I was in the bed in the ER, I got my gown on (hate them damned things, lol) and had to just lie there in bed for at least an hour or more, just waiting for the doctor to come in to see me! Gran thought they forgot about me, since everyone around me were being tended to, and no one was coming in to see me. I was on edge as it was, so this waiting was not helping any. Besides that, I had to pee pretty badly, but figured they'd want a urine sample, so I waited. That was real fun. NOT. At 7pm the doctor finally came in to see me, and he was GREAT. Really sweet, and listened to all I said. Dr. Kelley was his name. I did tell him everything, and what I thought it could be, either diabetes or that I was anemic, and he ordered the tests.
Finally around 7:30pm, a nurse came in and took some blood, or what seemed like A LOT to me. I thought she'd never stop filling the little tubes up. I was faint enough since I hadn't eaten since noontime, so this really made me feel lightheaded, after her taking all that blood. After that, I thought they were going to ask me to give a urine sample, but never did. By then I was bursting, I had to go REALLY badly. I still waited, and asked and they said not to worry about it, so here I waited that long and didn't have to!
He came back with the results, and I do have GOOD NEWS....I am NOT diabetic, nor am I anemic. So you can breathe easy now.
BUT, he said that there has to be something wrong, since I am this low in weight, and generally not feeling well at all. So, he gave me a referral number to call tomorrow, so I can find a clinic in my area, to go to, and get further tests done. He said I should go as soon as possible, since there could be something wrong, and it needs to be found. He told me to get a full physical, pap smear, and also have a thyroid test done. Oh freakin' joy. I have NEVER had a pap smear done in my life (I know, not good). Gran feels it might just be my stomach, and could be an ulcer or something. I don't know, but with a full physical, I am sure they will find what is wrong. Oh God, I DON'T want to have to do this, but I know I have to find out what is wrong. It is important. So I will have to find a clinic near me, and get in there for these damned tests that Dr. Meyer told me to get. Dr. Meyer said that most times people have to have many tests done before the problem is pinpointed, so I should not give up.
After he left, and I got dressed, I finally went to the bathroom. I don't know how I walked there, since I was just beyond bursting, but thankfully I did make it, and once there I didn't think I would stop peeing! LOL Took me at least 2 or 3 minutes, but what sweet relief! After that though, my bladder felt a bit sore and achy, and still does, holding that long. I kept wishing I'd had never drank those 2 glasses of water before leaving to go to the hospital, but I figured they'd want me to give a urine sample, but alas, they didn't this time.
We got out of there around 9:30pm, and we finally had some dinner at 9:50pm, so at least the hunger feeling in my stomach is gone. I am just plain dog tired though, since I have been up since around 11am, and I didn't sleep all that good lastnight due to the migraine. Then over 4 1/2 hours in the hospital tonight just drained what I had left in me of energy. My left arm where they took the blood, is also a bit sore and achy, so I will take a couple Tylenol PM's soon and go crash. The doctor told me that those were the best for me to take, so I can ease my discomforts and get some much needed sleep.
Well, there it all is in a nutshell. I am happy to find out that I am NOT diabetic, nor am I anemic. "YAY!" BUT, disappointed that I still don't know what in hell this is that is making me feel so tired, fatigued, etc., and making me basically feel like crap.
Thanks for helping me get the courage to go do this today! I really got great information from this board, wonderful encouragement, caring, understanding, comforting, and met some wonderful people!
I hope you all don't mind me still posting here on occasion, even though I am not diabetic.
I will keep you all posted on how my physical, pap smear, and thyroid tests go, when I get them done soon.
((((((((((((((Big Hugs of Thanks to You All))))))))))))))))
