Ugh! I have a horrible migrane tonight. But what I really wanted to find out about is something else. I have noticed when my BS is high, even just a little high, my eyes get very irratated and bloodshot. Has anyone else had this problem? I am just curious. I recently started wearing contacts and I have trouble wearing them when my BS gets high. thanks,

Hi,
I hope you are feeling better by the time you read this.
I am not sure that your elevated blood sugar makes your eyes appear reddened. But I am sure that it bothers your vision. The retinas and the optic nerve are pretty sensitive to the fluxuations of your blood sugar. This is why newly diagnosed diabetics are told to wait until their blood sugar is under control before having their vision checked and their glasses changed, if they are necessary.
Since you mentioned eyes, let me also say that all diabetics need a dilated eye exam annually and their retinas checked. This is part of basic diabetic care.
If you ask your eye professional about the redness and they tell you it is affected by your diabetes would you please post the information here for all of us.
A soft pillow and cool cloth for your head,
Mary Frances

I also suggest that
