Hey Girl: I'm very sorry to hear about the site problems. More so to here about
your A1c levels not good. Is this a sure bad test? I mean A1c is a 3 month average and as we all know, Christmas season was involved with more eating and less exercise. I know you have always done your best in dieting and exercising(a Big congrats on all that weight loss). So I have to wonder, one time over the limit test for 3 months. I would continue exercising and on a good normal diet and wait for the next A1c. Unless the Doc says for sure Insulin, from his observations. Well, anyways you should be soooooooooo
proud that you made it 15 years without insulin, if you were supposed to be on it from the start or soon after. Way tooooooo many people I know can't brag about that. You should be Mighty Proud Girl. I know six people(yes they had Juvenile Diabetes who died
between the ages of 21 and 39. Broke my heart!!! Sorry, I'm crying for them again.
I feel sorry for Drs. Banting and Best from Canada who discovered Insulin in 1921.
This is 2004, 83 years later, they are probably rolling in there graves wondering why after all these years no one has a cure for Diabetes. Tons of money have been donated to the research. I think the Governments are keeping that back, they are making tons of money not putting a cure through. I'm sorry I shouldn't be talking politics,
a subject no one is supposed to talk about.
So anyways, Mary Frances,if your Dr. puts you on Lispro, make sure you tell him
exactly what you eat and how often you exercise so he can give you an accurate doseage. I am on that for 7 years now and Lispro is very potent when you first start using it, until your body and schedule gets used to it. Unless he puts you on a gradual dose If you even need it, I hope you don't.
Lots of Luck and Love...:)...Glad you're back...***Carlie*** :)

Carlie,
Thank you for your kind words. My A1C has been getting worse with each test for the past year. In October my doctor increased my oral meds and the results didn't budge. Since I am on the maximum doseage we obviously have to change something. So I have become resigned to this.
The discovery of insulin virtually stopped the reseach into a cure for diabetes. But thanks to our English friends and the Diabetes Control and Complications Trial (DCCT) the care of diabetics in the past few years has been revolutionized. There is so much research going on now that I expect there will soon be a cure for type 1 diabetes. A cure for type 2 will come much later but we are getting new meds which will allow for better control of type 2 and hopefully a reduction in the complications of type 2 diabetes. I am going to my bi-annual class at the University of California at Davis and I hope to hear more about the latest research. I always come back with lots of information to share. I let you know what I hear.
Cheers,
Mary Frances
