these type of things, because I do and have no idea what they are and can't get into my doctors office for 2 more months due to his office being very popular. I have had this one small type of pimple like lump that is purple in color like a scar would be which in the past 3 months I have gotten 2 more in different places. The first one is on the back of my calve and the next one appeard on just above my the nook of the bend in my elbow. No, it isn't a scar at all, because I would have remembered that. I have no idea what these even are and they don't go away at all just sit there while not being at all bother some. I just am a little worried about what they can be such as a sign of some kind of skin cancer or who knows what. My husband tells me not to worry, but I am the worrying type so I thought I'd ask you all to see if anyone else has them.

I appreciate any help you all might be able to give me, because I can't help from not worrying about them since I am so prone to just about anything anymore. Oh, I am also still doing alright with the broken toe although it still is a big bother especailly with two little ones, but I just keep taking the tylenol to help with the pain the best it can since that is what the pharmacist recommended that will not affect my breastfeeding at all. Take care all and do have an absolutely wonderful day!

Hi:

Does it itch at all? Or, become raised at times? I ask because I had had something similar appear on the back of my left thigh area and it freaked me out. I went to the dermatologist and had it biopsied and found out if was nothing to be worried about. It was a medicine marker. What this means is that my body, from taking different types of medication, has produced a marker on my skin and if I take something that my body disagrees with, it swells up like a pancake and itches like hell.

It may be a good idea to get to a dermatologist and get them looked at and if they suggest a biopsy, just do it. You'll feel better knowing you did.

Hope it all works out for you.

How big are they? The size of the head of a pin, the size of a pencil eraser, or some other size? What color purple? Pinky-purple like Barney, blue-purple like violets, or some other shade? What shape are they? Round with smooth edges or irregular? What consistancy do they have - hard like the tip of your nose or soft like your earlobe?

I have a few different things that are sorta like what you described. Some are round and fleshy, smaller than a pencil eraser. They're basically blood vessels that have taken the scenic route. My dad & sister have the same thing, but theirs are larger. I also have something called dermatofibromas - scar-like things. They're round-ish, larger than pencil erasers but smaller than dimes, angry looking shades of pinks, sometimes darkening into pinky-purples. The dermatologist said they're what happens when the body overreacts to something that normally would never even leave a scar. In my case, it was a bug bite and a pimple.

As for your worries about skin cancer, I know exactly how you feel. I'm the poster child for risk factors, including a family member (grandfather) who died of a variety of cancers including this kind. Both my dad & sister have had skin growths removed, which thankfully turned out to be begnin. My advice is to call around and see if there's anywhere you can be seen in the next week or two. Explain exactly what you're concerned about. Taking action will probably help put your mind at ease. Then hug your DH and tell him that if you could stop worrying you would, but since you can't, you're seeking medical advice.

Well, the one on my arm is about the size of an earaser on a pencil and the one on the back of my calve is the size of an eraser. The one on my arm is very dark purplish brown color with a little pink to it. Now the one on the back of my calf is really dark in color like the color of a dark mole. My husband thought the one on my leg was a pimple, but he looked closer and decided it wasn't. If they are scar tissure then I have no idea what so ever of how I got them and don't remember ever getting anything in either areas. I guess it is just a waiting game for now until I can see my doctor, because I really don't want to have to pay a truckload of money out again for another doctor especially if it isn't one who is covered under our insurance since my husband's employers seems to like to switch insurance types on us to a cheaper one that doesn't cover so much. They have even discussed not having any insurance coverage what so ever, which if that happens I will be sunk in the mud for sure with all my medications and doctors I have to see. I wish they had kept the wonderful federal insurance program that covered those who had no insurance or didn't make enough to pay for medical expenses, but you had to qualify for it and we did qualify for it, which it really helped us to stay out of debt from my medical bills. Now we are in debt with my medical bills and trying to get ourselves out of it. So I guess I will just have to wait until I see my regular physician again. Thanks though for the great advice and informations, because I do appreciate the help with this problem that is worrying me so. Do take care and have a fabulous day!

Thank you Erika for this information. How ever it isn't itchy at all and does not raise what so ever. They both are already raised some with one being completely dark compared to the other one. I have had them for a while now in thinking that it was just scars and that they would go away or even get lighter, but that has not happened in which I have started to worry about them. My worrying struck me due to my doctor when I was pregnant with my first son discovered a dark beauty mark on the back of my ear in which he stated for me to keep my eye on it sine it was what looked like one of those that can become cancerous if it were to be in the sun for for prolonged periods often. So I always made sure to have my hair covering that part for a while, but as time went on I soon forgot about it and kept wearing my hair all up in a pony tail with not remembering to keep it covered. So now that I remembered his words I have become a little freaked out about these weird pimple scar looking things. Now I just have to sit back and wait for my appointment to come up and pray that nothing happens before then to prevent me from not making the appointment.

I would go see a dermatologist, but our insurance changed and that isn't covered under out new policy due to my husbands company going as cheap as possible on insurance and they really have done a good job so far with the cheap part since the insurance has changed so drastically. I can't even go see my Endocrinologist with out paying out of pocket due to how cheap our insurance has become in which I go only 2 times a year so that way we don't have a big huge bill hanging over our heads from that doctor like we do with so many of my othe ones. I guess if I really got super worried about it I could some how convince my husband that I needed to get in to see somebody very soon about them, but for now I will tough it out and pray while doing it that these
