their toe before. How long did it take to heal? I have been having to take a ton of tylenol just to get through the day and I have also noticed that it keeps swelling up pretty good. Granted I should of gotten it checked out, but I did call my doctor to find out what a broken toe looks like in which my toe fit the description very well. I was just told to tape to a toe beside it and put it up when I can, which with 2 very young boys that doesn't happen enough. I should mention that I also have pretty bad neuropathy in my feet with not feeling certain things so well such as my toe swelling up. Also what types of shoe is best? I wear a tennis shoe mules that just slip on, but I have noticed that when we go out to shop for groceries that my toe area and across seems to swell making my shoe on the tight side. The shoes are also a size larger due to my being pregnant when I got them so they are very roomy.

I appreciate any help with this one, because my husband is scaring me with it takes up to 6 months to heal due to his experience with a broken toe. I really don't want to see it hurting and swelling for another 5 months when I have so many plans for summer in the park with my boys. Sorry I am a worry wart and always want to know all I can about things such as this, so what better place to ask then here. Do take care and have a stupendous day!

when I broke my toe it took about 3-4 weeks to heal, but I couldn't

wear shoes at all.I am a sahm so it didn't really matter though.I

just bought a comfy pair of slippers at walmartand wore them

everywhere even shopping.I probably looked strange but it didn't

put as much pressure on my foot or toe as a shoe would have. And I

never had mine checked out at dr's either I just called and told

them what it felt & looked like. Sandra (type 1 for 17 years, usually a lurker)

Denise,

It took my broken toe about 6 weeks to heal up. I just wore a pair of sandals that had an adjustment strap over the front of the foot. I also wore socks to try and keep my foot warm. Walking around wasn't an option because I was in a wheel chair because of surgery on the other foot. But I did continue to have pain for about 6 months in my toes even though it was healed up. The residual pain is probably what your husband is referring to. My toes was so black and blue and swollen that there wasn't any need to tape it to anything. It couldn't move!

When you go to the store grocery shopping do they have one of those electric grocery carts that you can drive around? We have one in my grocery store and I found that to be real handy.

Hope you feel better soon,

Mary Frances

Thank you so much Sandra for responding to my post. I am also a stay at home mom and have been using slippers for around the house but have not thought about wearing them out to shop in which I just might do that since they don't push, crush, or put any pressure what so ever on my toe. I never even thought about wearing my slippers for shopping. Now I just have to pass this by my husband so he doesn't freak out on me. LOL Do come out of lurk mode when you are feeling up to it and join in, because we always love to have you

I'm sorry Denise, no one in our family has broken anything, (except my Dad's hip, totally crushed, you don't want to go there), so I can only hope for the very best for you in your quick recovery. And as less pain as possible to you. And lots of tingles and recovery in your foot.

Big Hugs and waves of well being to you, Sweety************************

Thank you so much Carlie for your post and the healing vibes. I know they will help me so very much. I am doing my best to stay off my feet as much as possible, but with 2 little ones that isn't always so easy. The pain is getting to be not so bad so I am so hoping that means that my toe is healing just fine. Here is to a few more weeks of healing power. Take care, I hope you had a wonderful Valenites day and have a fabulous day!
