OK to use canned fruit when real fruit

is expensive? I bought some canned peaches/apricots on sale today - I plan to rinse out the canned fruits and just use the fruit. Will the sugar in the fruit become less if I rinse them out?
What can I use the sugar syrup in? Can I use it to bake muffins/cakes/pancakes?
