Hi! I have posted on teh board before, but not frequently. I noticed there is much more activity on the board now ( i do lurk alot) so i thought i would re-introduce myself.

Im Debi, 36, SAHM to Jimmy 3( had GD w/ him) & Eddie 4 days shy of 1~(full type 2 diabetic w/ him ). Im mostly on insulin (humulog & humilin nph) and just talked my dr into putting me on glucophage. I know that the glucophage will help break down the resistance vs just pumping more insluin in. Ive been playign around w/ my dosing to determine just how much insulin i really need.

my last a1c was really good at 5.3. I had very tight #'s when i was pregnant and in the past year ive been sliding slowly to doing notheing but taking my meds. I really need to be back on track & watching what i eat more. I dotn have an endocronologist, just my family practice dr and he says basically w/ that a1c, i dont need a specialist.

well, i was emailing my ob my #s when preg, so if no one here minds, i may post my readings in its own little thread so i feel more accountable. Feel free to comment on them anytime or if i post a food journal, feel free to pick at that too.

See, Denise, i told you i would try to post!

Hi Debi,

Welcome back. Lurk no more! My your children are gorgeous. Such a lucky mom.

Feel free to post whatever you like. We are here to celebrate successes, lament failures and give gentle shoves when necessary.

By the way what does SAHM mean?

I agree with your doctor that you don't need a specialist. You are doing well lab wise but I am sure you will feel better when you start watching what you eat and exercise.

Well, I'm a newbie. I'd be delighted with your A1C.

I had a terrible Nov & Dec with anniversaries of deaths, divorce and a lot of stress with the holidays and being alone. I went from a nice just below 7 to 11.2 in 4 months! Now I'm really in for it! Diagnosed mid-January with diabetes, and had a strange experience with my endo and PA that day. Anyway, after 4 weeks' diabetes education, have a better handle on the diagnosis.

I'd enjoy your posting your info. It might just give me some more ideas.

Until I found this board and the CL's, I was kind of feeling out in the cold about this whole thing. Nobody told me that the diagnosis of insulin resistance two years ago would turn into full blown diabetes!

SAHM means i am a Stay At Home Mom.

Its just difficult to put much effort into eating right when my labs are good. I know that if i dont start, they will go up, but it doesnt help the motivation!

thanks for the compliments on my kids! I of course, think they are adorable!!

Hey Debi, long time no post. LOL I finally can post with the help of tech support from our DSL provider. YAYI am so glad to see you post with us once again, because I so love having you re-join us here. I will even go as far as to say that if you post a thread for blood sugars I will join you in doing that since like yourself I have not been doing much of that myself even with knowing I really need to be monitoring myself more. I can't exactly use my boys for an excuse so I have to blame myself for the laziness. On the food diary, I would being willing to also put down my meals although it would say just about only salad for the day. I can't help my love for vegetables and seem to go with what I am craving at the time, which salad is what it has been for a few weeks now. Oh well, at least it is healthy food and not no junk stuff. I need to get myself like you eating better some how and maybe this will be it.

It is great seeing you with us again, so keep posting with us. I want to see more post from you more often and if you have a problem with that then just e-mail to let me know. We can get ourselves back to good eating and doing better monitoring together since it will help us to motivate one another to do what we should be doing, so lets get started on that right away since I so want to have another child and need to get my blood sugars under better control before hand like I have in the past. So here is to the both of us getting ourselves back into the good regime that we so need to be in. Take care and do have the most wonderful Wednesday!
