glucerna bars. How many calories in one? What about the sugar and carbs? I appreciate any help you can offer here, because I am looking for something that would be a good quick thing to use for a snack when I am out of the house and if you can suggest any other types of bars like this please do, because any help I can get is very much appreciated. Take care and do have a fabulous day!

Hi Denise,

Glucerna bars now come in two sizes: one a meal substitute and the other a snack size. I can't answer your question about the carbos, etc because it is on the bax and that is gone. There are a couple of others out there like the Glucerna bars but I think the glucerna tastes better. The cranberry-something is really tasty and the choclate aint bad. I didn't really like the lemon bar which surprised me. Glucerna is made with a starch that is absorbed slowly so it doesn't cause peaks and valleys in your blood sugar.

Sorry I can't give you anymore information.

Shape Up has 30 carbs (2 exchanges for me)-bought one, haven't tasted it yet.

Bought a box of Choice snack bars - haven't tried them either- 15 carbs.

Not much help...but some options.

Thank you so very much Mary Frances, because you helped me out with telling me that there are two different bars with one being a meal substitue and the other a snack size. I am looking for a snack size one and may even pick me up a few of both. Do you know where it would be best to find them in a bigger variety? I have tried our Walmarts here, but they have very limited quantities with flavors and did not find one I even likded since I don't care for brown or dark chocolate. I prefer white chocolate if I have to buy any at all. I did get a free bar of the lemon one and I did not care for it either, which like you I was so very shocked since i usually prefer that type of snacks.

How are you doing? I have not seen to many posts from you about you, but have seen a few of your responses to posts. How do you like the boards fast moving pace these days? I absolutely love that the board is so lively now, but especially the fact thatwe have so many new members joining us. I am thrilled that things have gotten so much busier here, because I started to think itwas just me not doing a very good job. Now I can stop oworrying about that since it is moving very well now.

Take care and do have a wonderful day! Do keep me posted on things with you or if by chance you will be out of town. My e-mail address has changed, but I did have it changed with Ivillage as well. My new e-mail address is wigglypiggie@qwest.net so that you have it in case you need to contact me.

Hi Denise,

I have been here responding to posts. The board has been so busy lately that I haven't had time to post anything much original from me. I did post about starting the insulin on Monday. I dropped my A1C to 7.1 but I still qualify for the test. I don't think it is going to take much insulin at this point to get my A1C back down into the 6s. My stomach has been bothering me so much lately I am not sure how much longer I am going to be able to stay on the maximum doseage of metformin. It didn't bother me so much until the last increase.

Maybe Friday night I can do a casual chat. I will see how tomorrow goes and if all goes well I will post a day ahead of time so folks know to drop by. There is a problem with both you and I being on west coast time. Maybe I can get to the board a little earlier than usual.

Thanks for your email address. I will change it in my address both. I am thinking of getting DSL also. We just got it today at work and I am waiting to see how that works before I try it.

Well I must keep reading and posting. Take care and give the boys a hug,

Mary Frances

If you can find them at a grocery store or at a drugstore, look at Luna and Luna Glow bars.

Thank you so very much Gabby, it does help me tremendously. I did not even see the Luna bars at Walmart last weekend, but I also was so gosh darn tired I wasn't exactly seeing to straight either. I will take another look this weekend and let you know what I find there. I am so hoping that they have some in a variety of flavors and also some Glucerna ones as well. Take care and keep posting with us, because I so love the information and the laughter you always bring me. Have a stupendous weekend!
