HI :(
I need a good kick in the pants and some help. I am 6 days away from having my BReast Reduction surgery and I am being a bad diabetic. I have always been a personwho turns to food for comfort and needless to say I am a major stress case prior to this surgery (I want it no doubt but still).
So yesterday I had a bad food day, ate too may carbs and paid for it with two high BS readings of 186 after dinner and 156 in teh evening. Luckily my fasting level was 'ok' this AM at 109 and now :( after a lunch of baked mac and cheese (please don't yell!) I am at 180.....
I knwo the best thing for me before surgery is to have my BS as tight as possible so why am I doing this. Old habits that die hard? OK I am NOT goign to whine or cry any more. I am going tolook forward and just do better. I guess I wanted to write this because I feel extremely GUILTY and somewhat like I am failing because I cannot just get it right and do it the right way, even though I need to. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAa.

She had the Mac & Cheese and went out with her friends for drinks and dinner Friday, I think.

You take care of yourself. We need you!
Didn't mean to be playing mother to you. Was just concerned that they might screw up something. Glad your surgery is 7AM. You get them fresh, and you'll be out of recovery before too long. They'll have you on fluids for a bit. Don't worry. You'll be fine!
Hon, you're going to lose some weight just with the breast reduction...silly... ;-)
You'll have to email me an "after shot" of you. Don't want to lose too much weight. ok?

Michelle,
I am sorry I confused you with someone else. I thought when I was reading that we had two people having surgery: One on Monday and one on Thursday. Turns out you are the only one having surgery and it will be on Thursday. I hope I got this straight. Meanwhile I did find out from you that you will be in the hospital for one day and then to your mother's.
My experience with surgery is exactly as your anesthesiologist explained it except with the last surgery they made me wait until two pm and by that time I was so dehydrated that they couldn't find a vein to start my IV. Eventually a very experienced nurse found one and got it started. My reply to the anesthesiologist was that he should have let me have something to drink at 4 am. You need to not have anything to eat or drink for at least 6 hours before surgery in all patients and especially in diabetics because we don't empty our tummies correctly. Would you expect anything less from a diabetic! But you are going into surgery at 7 AM and you should do just fine.
Most of the time I try to be a patient and calm voice around here. You got my message loud and clear and I don't need to beat up on you for you to understand me.
Please try and stay calm in what is a nerve racking time. We are here to support you in anyway we can.
Hugs,
Mary Frances
