Any ideas for a diabetes id bracelet?

Received a bracelet from One Touch when I registered my Ultra. It's way too big for me.

It serves the purpose. However, since I'm supposed to wear it all the time, wondered if anyone knew of somewhere to get something that's pretty.

I'm past the point of making one for myself from beads. Don't have the patience any more. Been there, done that (lots) and almost bought the t-shirt! My mother was the creative person in the family, not me...that's for sure!

Any websites, stores, whatever, that I might check out would be greatly appreciated. THX

Hi Kathi, I can only suggest that you try out Ebay by doing a search there. I have seen a few sterling silver figaro ones that were not badly priced. I have also seen some 14k gold ones as well for a lot more. I use to have a link to lauren's Hope that had some home made bead ones, but some how my link no longer works. Maybe one of the other members will be able to help you out better with this than I can. I also thought maybe you might try some of your local jewelry stores and ask if they carry any nice medical alert bracelets at all. Granted most of them do not have them in the stores, but can get them from one of their catalogs. Hope this helps some, but hoping that somebody has a better idea or place to look. I too could use one myself that is nice since mine has some sharp edges to it now and seems to rube scratches in my wrist. Take care and just know that you are not alone in this one by a long shot. Have a wonderful day!

Hi...see if you can get a copy of Diabetes Forecast for January 2004 (check with your local library, or contact ADA). In it you will find a "resource guide" for all kinds of diabetes-related products. They include a fairly long list of medical ID suppliers, everything from under $10.00 for two watch tags to up in the hundreds for solid gold bracelets, charms, etc.

I'm sorry that Lauren's Hope is no longer available, I have one of their bracelets and it's very pretty. Maybe someone has a new Internet address for that source?

Thanks a lot. Appreciate your input. I'll check on the Diabetes Forecast. Just ordered a few books from ADA. Maybe they can help me find a copy. I'll check.

Thank you for letting me know about the Diabetes Forecast, because I have always loved their lists of great products with their own responses to if it is actually good or not. I'll have to look into it at my doctors office now. hehehe I will have him give it to me this way I can take my time with reading it. LOL Have a great day!

This is the one I got but with a red background on the medical symbol. They are not the cheapest you will find but I really liked these. I am not a bead person and wanted one that was simple and sterling silver. Sometimes I do wonder if it is obvious enough but medical professionals are trained to check right? Anyway check out the site and maybe you will see something you like.

One thing I saw that I liked is some of the companies have the hooks hook onto either side of the information plate - this way you can swap bands to amtch what you are wearing etc.

You're too clever for me. I just don't seem to have the motivation/ambition to do that!

Thanks for the info about doing a search. I'll sure do that.

Hope your week has been good so far.

I put in www.diabetes.org and discovered that you can look at the current issue of "Diabetes Forecast" as well as past issues. The January one is that has the suggested products.

Also rec'd an email from them today. It's $28 for membership and you get the magazine free, then. I don't think I belong. I have so much junk here on Diabetes that the magazine could be buried. Maybe checking my check book would give me a hint, huh?

Know that I have "Arthritis Today" and belong to them. Heck, life gets just too complicated sometimes. I feel like I'm getting buried in magazines. Have stopped the investment ones...not working...no $$ to invest!!

Michelle:

Thanks for the input. I'll sure check.

Well, you're probably out of recovery now and still groggy. Hope everything went well.

When you can raise your arms again, let us know how you are.

Hugs and hugs and hugs.

Hi Kathi,

Go the www.laurenshope.com for some really nice ID bracelets. I received this information from my doctors office. Some of the bracelets are a little pricey but they definately have a nice selection of fashionable bracelets. Good luck.
