I'm just "thinking out loud." In looking around my pantrys, fridge
I did a grocery exile in July and am doing it again this month. Only buying dairy, produce and things we run out of that are necessities (ie things like bread). However, in July I still spent $280.61!! I thought that wasn't too good for being on *exile*.
So during August, I've been tracking categories w/in the grocery budget--like milk, bread, produce, dairy & a few others. Maybe my definition in terms of dollars is unrealistic for my family and our eating habits. W/over a week to go in August, I've already spent $33.60 just on milk--just to give an example. Produce is at $59.58 which includes 2 co-op deliveries @ $23 ea. Bread--just sandwich bread--is $12.92 so far and I need to go buy more tomorrow.
It will be interesting to see what my August grocery breakdown numbers are. Maybe I won't be so hard on myself when it comes to *exiles* when I see what the real numbers are when it comes to things I consider necessities for my family.
Good luck w/your planning and your exile, MM.
