bs levls up and down

Hi ladies - well I am doing ok on my recovery from surgery but my bs levels have been so irratic. I have been eating way less carbs and sugars and I am assuming the fluctuation is because of the recent stress to my body, lack of ability to exercise (even standing for too long still is a task). But my bs levels have been anywhere from 90 (great) to 190 today. Nothing that is causing me to freak out MAJOR but I was still wondering if anyone could comiserate that surgery and such could cause these shifts. I will call my PCP Monday as well. Maybe he will want to up some of my meds for the time being but I do not want to do that without talking to him. Especially where while they are high they are not uber super high.

Hi Michelle,

First off, thank you for your private message to me. I really appreciated it. I am glad to read that you are doing well after surgery. I really wouldn't worry about your blood sugars too much as long as they stay under 200 because your body is reacting to the assualt of surgery. You have tissue reactions going on and as they begin to calm down your blood sugar will drop. Your not being able to walk around and do your usual activities of daily living isn't helping either.

Please take it easy on yourself and please let me know how you are doing.

A very gentle hug,

Just to let you know I'm thinking of you. Good luck at the doc's tomorrow. The drain comes out, huh?

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

(((hugs)))

Oh Michelle, I am so sorry to hear that your having the blood sugar fluctuations going on, but as you have already guessed it really is caused by the shock to your body from the surgery especially with all that tissues trying to heal and that you are not able

Thank you to everyone who posted in response to my little "hissy fit" vent over my bs levels. I am an active person and this inactivity is killing me and it is just the beginning of really 4 weeks of recovery! I will talk to my doctor on Monday.

It is also hard because I am 3 days post op and still have not been able to see my new girls! I am sure when I do see them I will be taken back since they will be me but completely different and still new and healing.

Thanks for listening!
